Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Kelly Buster, Lolli, and Pepper!

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This weeks Pet of the Week at the Animal Shelter Society is actually four pets ready to find their forever home.
First is Kelly, the 2-year-old husky/shepherd mix who may be nervous around new people but warms up quickly and loves a good belly rub. Lolli is a one-year-old beagle and she is super social and super high energy so she loves attention and lots of exercise. Next is Buster, who is a friendly one-year-old terrier/American pit bull mix who loves to play fetch for as long as your willing to throw.
Finally on the list is Pepper, the 2-year-old bulldog mix is super friendly with people and dogs alike but doesn’t want to have a cat for a roommate. While these pups are temporarily calling the Animal Shelter Society their home, you can help make sure they’re cared for by donating to the Santa Paws Supply Drive. Donations of items like laundry detergent makes sure they can keep up with the 32 loads of laundry they need to do every day.
“People find that surprising but with over 100 animals in our care and the very strong protocols that we have on the cleaning, it’s necessary. So, we have eight washers and dryers running from 9:30 until about 3:30,” said April Gibson, executive director for the shelter. “The other thing is the scoopable litter. That’s really important. We have almost over 100 cats that are in your care. Everything that we have, our biggest needs are on our website. Animal Shelter Society dot org. ”
Gibson wants local pet owners to keep them well cared for with the majorly cold weather heading our way.
“You know the 3 things you have to supply in the state of Ohio for these animals if they’re outside is shelter, water and food. And make sure that water is not frozen. Make sure it’s fresh, you know, check on them several times a day,” Gibson said. “With that being said, if you do have animals outside, sometimes folks do have them or theses feral cats, the community cats. We have straw available. We’re donating straw again this year, we have for several years. So, stop in and see us. If it’s after-hours, you know, we put the straw bin outside to make it convenient for our community.”
