John McIntire Library Remodel Updates

ZANESVILLE, OH – Some exciting news is coming to the Muskingum County Library System.
Sean Fennell, the Marketing and Community Relations Director with the MCLS, has announced they are entering the next phase of the remodel of the John McIntire Library.
He says while they are excited to begin this next phase, it’s a bit of a bittersweet moment.
“We are moving everything out of the Carnegie so that we can begin the renovation of the Historic Carnegie.” Fennell said. “Of course, this is going to be a very light touch on the Carnegie as well but that means that we have to unfortunately shut down operations for a limited amount of time at the John McIntire Library and we say goodbye to our beloved Mini Mac that has been operating out of the lower level of the Carnegie Building during this first phase of our remodel project.”
The last day to visit the John McIntire Library before the remodel is complete and to say goodbye to the Mini Mac is Saturday, Jan. 3rd.
Fennell says not to fear though, you can still head to the Library’s Mall Location as they are upping their hours to make up for the closure.
“I will say that this next phase of the remodel, it’s a double edged sword, in this case.” Fennell said. “Because, I loved that we were able to have our building open for a huge amount of time during this remodel process. We will unfortunately have to close our building itself for public, for people to come inside and use our services at John McIntire, until we have our official opening this coming Spring, which we are very excited about. That’s what makes it, I guess that’s what really makes it exciting, that we know, even though that there are some pain points, and we can’t offer the services that we want, we can’t have people in our building for just a small amount of time, we know that tis leading us to the next step of when we are able.”
For updates on the remodel or programs, you can head to the Library’s website or follow them on social media.
