Marjorie Barlow

Maxine Barlow

Marjorie Maxine Barlow castoff the shackles of this earthly life and went home to the Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, attended lovingly by her daughters and grandchildren. Maxine will be well-greeted on the other side by her husband Leslie Barlow, her parents Lester and Ruth Gadd, sister Mary Jones, her best friend and sister-in-law Arieta West, and son-in-law Steve Wymer. There is sure to be a crowd at the Rainbow Bridge as well.

Maxine is survived by her three daughters Roxanne Wymer, Randi (Fred) Pappa, and Rise Barlow who was her caretaker for the last years of her life. She also leaves behind grandchildren Leslie (Jamie) Wymer, Lucas (Kris) Wymer, Jacob (Taisha) Hina, and Sara (Scott) Haren. She will be missed by great grandchildren Matthew Wymer, Alonzo Wymer, Parker Hina, Jasper Hina, and Vayda Hina, and her brother Charles Gadd. There are many others, nieces, nephews, and friends who stayed behind.

Our mother was born and raised on a farm outside of Adamsville, Ohio, and she always preferred the simple life and country ways. She was a salt of the earth person. She always said she couldn’t live without a dog, and her most recent canine friend Archie was by her side until the end. Her home in Roseville was surrounded by flowering plants, and there were enough tomatoes in the back garden to feed our entire family and then some. She loved to feed the hummingbirds and the backyard was like an airport for them. She was active in the church until her health prevented her attendance.

Maxine did work outside the home, mostly as a hair stylist or cosmetology instructor. At one point she owned her own salon. She loved to crochet and quilt for enjoyment, and she created some beautiful pieces with that skill. Many items were donated to her church, to Heartbeats of Muskingum County, and to the Eastside Ministry.

This was a lady who believed in a duty to give her best at every turn. That is exactly what she accomplished in the eyes of her family who will miss her greatly until we are all reunited. She has chosen Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, to host her services. Viewing and visitation will be held there from 3:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, January 11, 2026, and one hour prior to a Celebration of her Life which will be delivered by Randi Pappa at 11:00 am on Monday, January 12, 2026. Burial will be held privately at a later time at Salem Church Cemetery, Dresden.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Genesis Hospice for their excellent care and compassion for Maxine.
