Lynn Howe Willett

Lynn Willett, 75, of Zanesville went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2017 after a long struggle with Parkinson’s.
He was born November 30, 1941 in Grinnell, Iowa, son of Howard and Dorothy (Howe) Willett. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa with a BA in History, Masters in Counseling, and PhD in Higher Education.
Lynn served as the 4th President of MATC/Zane State for 18 years from 1986 to 2004. Prior to this he served as Vice President at Elgin Community College in Elgin, IL.
He enjoyed traveling, reading, history, cross word puzzles, and watching college football and basketball (especially the Iowa Hawkeyes).
Lynn is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Kay (Matias) Willett, his three children Jason (Jennifer), Chad (Erika), and Allison (Michael). He was also very proud of his four grandchildren, Taylor and Morgan Tominc, Nathan Willett, and Scarlett Willett. Also surviving are his sister Charman (Willett) Banks and brother Lance Willett.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Lisa and brother Max Willett.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Friday January 6, 2017 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Mattingly Settlement with Father Don Franks as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mattingly Settlement Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Dr. Lynn and Mary Kay Willett Scholarship fund at Zane State College, 1555 Newark Rd. Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
