Dug Road Update

Roadclosed

One local road is closed after it was deemed dangerous for traffic.

Muskingum Avenue also known as Dug Road is temporarily closed due to safety concerns. Mayor Jeff Tilton reported that last night a large rock and tree fell onto the road. The Mayor expressed his concern of keeping citizens safe.

“This is the second slip we have had within the last six weeks; so until I get a better idea of what’s going on and how we can fix that and make it safe we are temporarily closing Dug Road which is  actually Muskingum Avenue between Pine Street and the railroad tracks at Muddy Misers.”

The Mayor announced they will hold a traffic committee meeting on February the 16th to address the future of Dug Road. Until then, the Mayor’s Office is working to resolve the issue.

“Last week we met with some other people about you know, bringing some people in engineering to tell us if there’s someway we can fix it or is it something that we may have to look at closing it down permanently.”

The Mayor acknowledged this was an inconvenience but stressed the safety of citizens came first in their decision.
