Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office receives recognition

ZANESVILLE, OH- The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office received certification by the state of Ohio for implementing new state standards.
Muskingum County Sheriff Mat Lutz explained that the new standards come from an executive order signed by Governor John Kasich. The order included changing the standard of the use of force, deadly force, agency recruitment, and hiring.
“In a nutshell, we took our use of force policy and kind of took our process of hiring and recruiting and basically put it into a format for them.”
The Sheriff acknowledged with the current state of the country he is thankful of the support from the community and hopes that the standards will further strengthen that relationship.
“Your relationship with your public is one of the most important things that we could do and have and so we treasure that and are very appreciative of the support we get here.”
The Sheriff noted that these new standards are only a start of improving community relations throughout Ohio.
