May Primary Election Registration Dates

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Spring is just around the corner so that means the May Primary Elections are soon to follow.

The Board of Elections is currently accepting petitions until February 1, 2017. Director Timothy Thompson said the deadline for candidates to file for positions in the city offices will end at 4:00 P.M.

“We’ve already had several people that have filed and we’re anticipating several more yet,” Thompson said. “The president of council has been filed for, the council at large, and ward council members have filed for office.”

Voter registration for the May primary elections are closing on April 3rd, and now people can register online for their personal convenience.

“Voters can access registration online now at the secretary of states office,” Thompson said. “So they can register to vote and we would receive that registration here in our office. So they don’t have to show up personally, so that’s a big plus for the voters.”

The May Primary Election day is on May 2, 2017. The Zanesville Board of Elections will be open from 6:30 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. on the election day. Early voting for the primary will be April 4, 2017 through May 1, 2017.
