ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Community Foundation, or MCCF, has announced the recipient of the 2026 Dick Johnson Civic Leadership Award.

Brian Addis has served on the boards of organizations like the Zanesville Jaycees, Kiwanis, the Zanesville Historic Preservation Board, and the Zanesville Downtown Design Review Board. Addis is also a founding partner of APG Architects and has led the organization with his partners using a community mindset.

“Without success of our community, there is no success for businesses, entrepreneurship, growth of a company,” Addis said. “So, I’d like to think of it as what we’re not changing, we’re choosing. So, our company, our organization, our partners, we try to contribute and to change, to build the community and make it a better place, both architecturally and from a business standpoint.”

Addis will be honored at the MCCF’s Groundhog Day Celebration with the Dick Johnson Civic Award, which recognizes those who exemplify dedication, service and leadership in Muskingum County. The event presents Addis with a speaking opportunity that he finds outside of his usual skill set.

“You know, I could stand up for hours and talk about architecture, about any specific architectural project. To get up and talk and tell a little bit about yourself and put yourself out there for others to see is a little more challenging,” Addis said. “But, I am looking forward to it and love the Groundhog event. It’s always a good event and I hope the entire community comes out for the event this Friday.”

The Groundhog Day Celebration is Friday, starting at 5 p.m. in the Zanes State Campus Center. Tickets are available online at MCCF.org.
