ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Applications for a visual arts program following high school is now available through Muskingum County Community Foundation.

Muskingum County high school seniors who are graduating this spring and going into a visual arts field in a college, university, or institute can now be nominated by their art teacher and apply for the 2017 Ronna Bucci and Dr. Charles Dietz Art Scholarship. Educational Assistant, Katie McCarty said the students need to submit a power point showing up to ten slides of art work.

“The comity does like to see a variation in the types of art that they do so whether it be charcoal drawing, painting, or graphic art of some kind,” McCarty said. “They do like to see a variation between those.”

After the student is nominated by their art teacher and turned in their power point, the selection comity will review all applications and choose one winner. McCarty said the scholarship money will be given directly to the student for them to use for their visual arts program, whether that’s buying textbooks, art supplies, tuition, or transportation.

“If it actually went to the institution sometimes the institution will take away some of their other financial aid,” McCarty said. “So that’s why we like to do that, so that the student receives as much help as they possibly can get.”

The applications are due by March 15th, for more information on this scholarship contact Muskingum County Community Foundation by calling (740) 453-5192.
