Betty McCabe

Betty L. McCabe, departed this life on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Westerville following an extended illness.
She was born on February 10, 1947 in Saltillo, to the late Frederick and Thelma (Hanula) Harris.
A beloved member of her community, Betty’s warm spirit and generous heart touched the lives of countless individuals. Throughout her life, Betty was passionately engaged in community activities, particularly at the National Church Residences in Hilliard. Her enthusiasm for life was evident in the many ways she connected with those around her. An avid Bingo player, she enjoyed the excitement and camaraderie that came with the game. Betty also found joy in crocheting, a skill she utilized to create beautiful handmade afghan blankets that she gifted to everyone she met, leaving a lasting legacy of comfort and warmth. In her leisure time, Betty delighted in shopping and indulged her passion for detective shows, often immersing herself in the mysteries and narratives that captivated her imagination. A kind soul, she took pleasure in the simple act of feeding the squirrels, embodying her gentle spirit and love for all living creatures. Betty L. McCabe will be remembered not only for her talents and hobbies but also for her unwavering kindness and generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be greatly missed, but her impact on her community and the lives she touched will carry on.
Betty is survived in life by her children, Tina (Mike) Bonanno, Donald (Tina Dement) McCabe and Steven (Lisa) McCabe; her sister, Jeanette McConaha; her grandchildren, who affectionally called her Grams, Jenn Jenn Reel, Jasmine McCabe, Elizabeth Bernard, Allen Boyles and her 8 great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by a whole host of friends, but especially, Sandy, Marge and Marilyn.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Thelma Harris; her step-mother, Vel Harris; her sons, Timothy McCabe, Charles McCabe and her siblings, Lois Robinson, James Harris and Roger “Doc” Harris.
Visitation services will be held at Goebel Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Crooksville, Ohio, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, where friends and family are invited to celebrate her remarkable life. Following visitation, Betty will be buried in Mt. Horeb Cemetery next to her son, Timothy.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the National Church Residence Hospice staff, specifically, Starla, Tierra and Kelly who offered their service and friendship to Betty and her family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to the National Church Residences Palliative Care in Hilliard.
