ZANESVILLE, Ohio – U.S. Rep. Troy Balderson (R) attended the Legislative Breakfast on Friday to share updates on legislation that’s past and what’s next on his agenda.

During the breakfast hosted by the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce, Balderson discussed the need for energy independence and other priorities as the congressman for Ohio’s 12th district.

“Look. Our power demand supply is down. We are shutting off base load energy too fast and we can’t reach those peak demand moments,” Balderson said.

Balderson says the recently passed Great Power Act and the Power Reliable Act should address those concerns. A primary point made during his speech was to remember that not all legislaters are like the ones who routinely parade themselves onto national networks. He says that most of them want to listen to their communities and address their concerns.

“There’s 200 members plus in congress that you don’t see on Fox and CNN that are there for the right reasons and they’re working their tails off. And the perception out there that we don’t do anything and that we don’t work hard and we don’t want what’s best for our communities is absolutely wrong,” Balderson said. “We want our communities to be successful.”

Balderson serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee along with the Health, Energy, and the Oversight and Investigations subcommittees.
