ZANESVILLE, Ohio- For those with the case of the ‘Monday’s,’ there is one happy hour to look forward to.

The Animal Shelter Society will be hosting their annual ‘Yappy Hour,’ on March 30th at the Zanesville Country Club. The event will take place from from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature appetizers, desserts and some specialty silent auction items.

Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, Jody Murray, said if it’s anything like previous years, they will be featuring exclusive prizes.

“We usually have about eight to ten really nice auction items. In the past we’ve had things like a ride on the Goodyear Blimp, a really super package a couple years ago to watch the Buckeyes play, so we usually have items that you really can’t find any place else,” said Murray.

Tickets are available for $30 per person and $50 per couple. They will be $40 the day of the event at the door. All proceeds benefit the shelter to assist with their many costs.

“All of the money stays local, all of the money goes right back into caring for the animals that we have,” Murray said.

Murray said the shelter, which is privately ran, takes care of thousands of animals a year, all without government funding.

“To take care of that many animals is very expensive so we really appreciate all the support that we get here on events like this,” Murray said.

The shelter is locally funded and Murray thanks their many sponsors.
