ZANESVILLE, Ohio- It’s time for the annual rose sale fundraiser.

Every year during the month of March, the Zanesville Rotary Club sells roses to benefit the local community.

Zanesville Rotary President, Don Mason, said this had been a tradition that has been going on for over 50 years.

“Everybody always likes to know good things are happening in town, but it takes organized efforts and associations and the Rotary is a 102 year-old group. It takes groups like ours who actually go out and put the sweat equity into it as well as the financial support,” said Mason.

The roses are being sold for $20 a dozen. The net proceeds go to benefit local charities and projects across the city.

“There’s a lot of needs in this town that are not met through tax payer dollars, funding, state, federal and local governmental units. There’s a lot of needs that can only be benefited from charitable contributions,” said Mason.

And though buying a dozen roses doesn’t seem like a charitable contribution, Mason said it helps more than most think.

“Approximately half the proceeds, do again, go back into funding the charities,” said Mason.

The goal is to assist in the completion of community projects to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Zanesville and Muskingum County as a whole.

Roses can be purchased from Rotarian’s on March 14th-15th, 21st-22nd and 28th-29th. They will also be available at Century National Bank’s downtown location, the Winerak, Giacomo’s and Imlay Florists.
