Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Red!

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It’s time to check in with April Gibson at the Animal Shelter Society Incorporated to meet our pet of the week.
Meet Red. She’s an 8-month-old red-nosed pit bull who may be a little timid at first but warms up quickly. Red gets along well with other dogs and loves to lay her head in your hands for chin scratches and affection.
“She would be good in a home with kids,” said Gibson, the executive director of the Animal Shelter Society Inc. “You know you’re not going to want real small children because she doesn’t know her strength when she runs and jumps. She tries to have manners but she’s really well-disposed. She does really well with the staff here and with visitors coming in. You just have to be a little bit patient with them.
The Animal Shelter Society has sold out tickets to their Feral Felines Sing-A-Long event, but as Gibson explains, there is still time to get your tickets or sponsor the annual Yappy Hour event.
“That’s how we take care of dogs like Red and the other over a hundred in our care right now. So it is Thursday, March the 5th at the Zanesville Country Club. They’re very accommodating, they’re great folks over there. It’s $50 for a single ticket or we have the various sponsorships that’s available on our website, or you can call us or stop in,” Gibson said.
The Yappy Hour event features delicious food from four local chefs, drinks and unique auction items that include signed Cleveland Browns memorabilia. You can learn how to adopt a pet like Red or get your tickets to Yappy Hour by visiting the Animal Shelter Society Inc.’s website.
