ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project is getting ‘Mad as a March Hare’ this month with Artist of the Month, Sharon Dean.

The artist’s theme ‘Mad as a March Hare’ is to help encourage other artists to get a little crazy and make abstract art. Dean does a mixture of realism and abstract paintings, but she says abstract paintings are a more authentic representation of the moment when you’re creating.

“Just allowing those emotions, that experience, what you’re thinking about, or listening to music-wise at that moment comes out and resonates through the abstract sometimes better than the realist.” said Dean.

Dean will be available during the First Friday Art Walk at Z.A.A.P. from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Dean has a bright selection with black-light highlights so people can see the same picture tell a different story.

“I lived in that anxiety depression for too long,” Dean said. “So now I just want to bring nothing but color, joy, and really just express the joy that I have for the life and my vision of the world, because it can be a beautiful place.

Deans work can be seen in the Z.A.A.P. Gallery throughout the month of March. Z.A.A.P. is open every Thursday through Sunday 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
