ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Perry Behavioral Health Choices opened their new “Activity Center” today in New Lexington.

The 10,000 square-foot facility cost $80,000 to build – all of which came from  grants and reserve money – and is now the ninth building in the PBHC system. Executive Director Theressa Snyder said 4-5 years ago they only had two buildings in their system with six employees. Now, between their nine different facilities, they have grown to 45 staff members.

“Today, Perry Behavioral Health Choices is proud to announce the opening of our newest facility the PBHC Activity Center, where we are providing people that are struggling with addictions and their families an opportunity to become more actively involved in the treatment process,” said Snyder

She explains that the new Activity Center will offer a wide variety of programs, some dedicated specifically to addicts, and others that will be offered to all community members as well. While normal operating hours will be during the week, Snyder said that they will have some programs that are offered on the weekends at times. Snyder emphasized the desire for the Activity Center to truly be a “community based” facility.

“We have some support groups that are going to be meeting here, friends and families meetings; a kitchen so we’re going to be offering some nutritional classes, we’re going to be offering some mentoring programs in the main room. Upstairs we have a fitness gallery, and we have an art gallery up there where you can actually come work on things,” Snyder added.

In addition to community members being able to create their own art work, Snyder said they will have local artists displaying their own artwork in the facility as well.

The Activity Center is located at 112 South Main St. For information about programs you can call them at (740)342-1991.
