Ronald E. Hicks
Ronald E. Hicks, 62, a lifelong resident of Muskingum County, passed away 4:48 PM Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Born January 29, 1955, at Bethesda Hospital, he was the son of the late Robert E. and S. Geneva (Soller) Hicks.
Hicks was a writer, producer, director, editor, cinematographer, photographer and videographer producing various visual productions for clients in the form of television commercials, sales presentations, documentaries, print publications and photo and graphic displays.
Hicks managed all productions through his two companies East Central Ohio Productions and American Consulting Services.
Hicks earned over 40-national awards in various competitions from video and audio to
print and photography.
An Ohio University graduate, Hicks earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism Degree, a Master of Arts in Political Science Degree and an Associate in Applied Science of Radio-Television Degree.
Hicks was a 41-year member of the Society of Professional Journalists, SPJ, and a life time member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church.
Early in Hicks’ career during and after college, he produced and reported news and sports stories from seven counties around Muskingum County that aired on both WBNS-TV, Columbus and WTRF-TV in Wheeling, West Virginia. Also, Hicks wrote news stories and shot photos that the Associated Press Columbus Bureau published.
Varsity basketball was Hicks favorite sport at John Glenn High School while setting school records for the two-mile in track and the school cross country course.
Hicks thoroughly enjoyed playing golf his entire life.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki J. Hicks. Preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM Thursday March 9th, 2017 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. where funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, March 10th. Burial to conclude at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
