Patriotic Plows

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation District 5 is now accepting applications for its annual Paint-the-Plow contest.
The community outreach initiative is open to all K-through-12, along with career-tech schools and youth organizations within the seven county territory.
“We’re bringing back our annual Paint the Plow program this year and the theme is America 250. So it’s just another opportunity for students in the area to kind of highlight their artwork and show their creativity while promoting ODOT’s mission of safety and having the opportunity to research Ohio’s unique place in American History,” ODOT District 5 Public Information Officer Chas Cosgrave said.
Contest applications can be obtained by visiting d05.pio@dot.ohio.gov and must be returned by Friday, March 27th. Plows will be delivered the week of April 6th, and retrieved in early May. The plows will then be displayed at various events throughout the summer to promote area arts and public safety.
“Voting for the People’s Choice Award will take place on our Facebook page at the beginning of June,” Cosgrave said. “So if people want to vote for their favorite plow, they can just go to our Facebook, that’s district 5, ODOT District 5 on Facebook and we try to keep it simple. One like as one vote and we go from there. So by all means, you know, solicit votes, do everything you can to kind of fire folks up. Like it, share it, comment it but we keep it simple, one like is one vote and that’s how we choose our People’s Choice.”
For shareholders, who are proud of their creations and want to display them on location or nearby events throughout the summer, they can contact ODOT online.
