Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week: Meet Penny!
ZANESVILLE, OH – It’s time again to check in with the Animal Shelter Society and meet their pretty Pet of the Week.
Penny is a one-year-old pocket bully who’s spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and is eagerly awaiting her forever family.
April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Shelter, said Penny is very active and loves to play with other dogs as well as kids, but she would do best in a home with children over the age of 10.
“She doesn’t know, even though she is small, she’s a little pocket bully, she doesn’t understand her strength and so she can go at you pretty good.” Gibson said. “We believe she was utilized for breeding purposes and then she came to us, so we could take care of her properly.”
On top of taking care of over 100 animals, the Shelter has also been very busy with some community fundraising events that just wrapped up.
The first ever Feral Felines Brunch and Sing-along at the Tiny Tap was such a huge success that Feral Felines 2 will be happening on Saturday April 18th from 10Am until 1PM.
Gibson also talked about the 10th Annual Yappy Hour Fundraiser and said it wouldn’t have been possible without the support for the community.
“We’re still blown away by it. It was the best event in the history of the 60 years of the Animal Shelter.” Gibson said. “Over 230 people were there to celebrate us, the auction items, Johnny Nolan did a phenomenal job, all of the chefs produced excellent dishes. We haven’t heard one negative thing about it, other than we ran out of seats. It could’ve been a very easily sold out event but we’re very excited about the 11th, that’s going to March 4th, 2027.”
The Animal Shelter Society will also have dog food available for pick up on Friday, March 13th, from 10AM until 3PM.
If you are interested in adopting Penny or for more information, you can call the Animal Shelter Society at (740)-452-1077.
