Zanesville Kiwanis asking for fundraiser participants

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Zanesville Kiwanis Club is asking for help with one major fundraiser.
The Corporate Pinewood Derby is an annual fundraiser sponsored by the Zanesville Kiwanis Club. The funds raised benefit various local youth services programs.
Sarah McInturf, Chairperson for the Zanesville Kiwanis Corporate Pinewood Derby, said they sponsor the Key Club’s at West Muskingum, Zanesville, Rosecrans and Maysville high schools.
“We really help sponsor those kids, either build their resumes if they want, or to go to different conventions, we help sponsor them with that,” said McInturf.
She said it’s a volunteer service where they are donating their time and money to help the kids involved and this fundraiser helps with that.
For the busier businesses, there is the option to still participate even if you can’t make it.
“It’s an easy fundraiser for businesses, they don’t even have to build their own cars. The students at Starlight Industries can build the cars and race the cars on the business’ behalf,” said McInturf. “So it’s easy for the business and it’s competitive. It’s low expense to the Kiwanis Club, it’s just a fast easy way to raise money for our youth service programs.”
Last year’s derby winner was Dollar General, who already has their car in the year’s race.
The derby will take place on April 13th at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus.
