ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The S.T.A.R.S. Camp has been helping young girls from Muskingum County with Sensitivity, Tolerance, Attitude, Responsibility, and Self-Esteem So they can transition into young adults.

The 2017 S.T.A.R.S. Camp applications will be sending out to schools that have sixth through eighth grade girls. Coordinator, Ronelle Barnett said the S.T.A.R.S. program is focused on elevating the middle school girls self-esteem.

“Middle school is a tough age,” Barnett said. “They are trying to figure out who they are, where they want to be, where they fit in. When you put girls from all over Muskingum County, from almost every different school district together. It gives them that great opportunity to meet different girls and to learn things from them.”

The 14th Annual Stars Camp will take place on June 13-15, 2017 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Ohio University Zanesville. The girls will participate in crafts, games, and a group discussion.

“The first thing that you need to bring with you when you walk in that door is a positive attitude,” Barnett said. “As I said, I know it’s scary, but if you at least come in with an ‘okay I’m just going to try this and see what happens.’ It’s going to make a world of difference.”

The Application and $15.00 fee needs sent in by May 5, 2017 to the Muskingum Behavioral Health. Call Muskingum Behavioral Health office at (740) 454-1266 and ask for Ronelle Barnett for more information.
