Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Dog of the Week; Meet Nigel!

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This week’s Dog of the Week is looking for a new home after making a full recovery from Lyme disease.
Meet Nigel! When he came to the Muskingum County Sheriff’s K-9 Adoption Center, his Lyme disease was so severe that he couldn’t even walk short distances. Now that he’s fully recovered, this 2-year-old German Shepherd mix is ready to find his new family.
“Nigel was one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet. Very gentle, loves to go for walks, takes treats very well, loves to play in the play yard,” said Doug McQuaid, a volunteer at the adoption center. “We found out he keeps a clean kennel every day, loves everybody, but he would be a dog that if you happen to have a dog yourself, he would be a dog that you would want to meet with to make sure that everything would work out fine. But, we could not say enough good things about Nigel.”
McQuaid wanted to take the opportunity to invite the community to their upcoming Smooches for Pooches event, with proceeds going towards the medical fund that helps dogs like Nigel.
“It will begin April 7 at the Merle Norman Cosmetics on Brandywine Boulevard. The customer buys products and makes a donation to our Griff Fund, which is our medical fund. The customer will recieve a free gift plus 10% of the sales will be donated to our Griff Fund, which that will be very helpful. Our t-shirts will be on sale, all colors and sizes, they are $5,” McQuaid said.
