Northpointe Speed Limit Rising 35 to 45

ZANESVILLE, OH – Drivers along Northpointe Drive may notice a change on their commute.
The speed limit along Northpointe is being increased from 35 to 45 miles per hour. The decision comes after city council recognized many drivers were already traveling closer to 45. Officials say the update is meant to better match how the road is currently used while improving overall traffic flow.
“It will be from Brandywine and Northpointe to 146 on Northpointe. It will not include that area near Sam’s Club, Lowes, and Home Depot. I caution people to make sure that they do drop their speed back down when they get near Maple Avenue.” Zanesville City Mayor, Don Mason, said.
Mayor Mason stresses that drivers should continue following the current 35 mile-per-hour limit until the new speed limit signs are fully installed along the route.
“I want drivers to realize that we have Menards that’s going to be coming in and we have some residential development in the area. It might lull them into thinking that they don’t have to pay attention to the road because it seems to be so wide open. I really want to encourage people that you still need to use all your safety procedures. Look at the road in front of you, look at the cars trying to pass you, and know your circumstances still apply.” Mayor Mason said.
Mayor Mason reminds drivers to watch for the new signage and continue practicing safe driving habits as the change takes effect.
