Looking forward to spring with the Animal Shelter Society

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It’s time to check in with April Gibson at the Animal Shelter Society Inc. to see what events they have coming up this spring.
Gibson wanted to start off by highlighting the final stretch of the March Meowness adoption special. Adoptions of cats at the shelter are just $35 for the rest of the month. A feline adopted from the shelter is guaranteed to be up to date on all vaccinations, microchipped, with trimmed nails and clean ears, and spayed or neutered.
“It’s really important that you make sure that when you do want a kitten, that you make sure that they’ve had that surgery and they’re up to date and they’re ready to go. It’s so much better than taking them off the streets and not, you know, controlling this overpopulation that we have. Just our shelter this week did 63 surgeries. It’s a great number but it’s still, we’re still hacking away at it. So just make sure, that’s why it’s best to adopt and that you have all that taken care of.”
The nonprofit organization is hosting three upcoming fundraisers to bring the community together and support the care of the animals at the shelter. The Feral Felines Sing-A-Long Brunch is April 18, Pickleball 4 Paws Saturday, May 2, and Rockin’ 4 Paws and Claws featuring Zack Attack is May 16th.
“So we have all three of these going on, you can find those on our Facebook or on our website or you can call in here to and get the information. But it takes all of these events to, you know, keep us going and what we do for kitties, like when Freddy came in and making sure everybody is altered and up to date. So just be mindful of that and we appreciate everybody’s support.”
Customer service hours at the Animal Shelter Society are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information can be found at AnimalShelterSociety.org.
