The Eggstravaganza returns to Zanesville First Church of God

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville First Church of God is hosting their annual Eggstravaganza the day before Easter and everyone is invited.

The church at 1930 Newark Road is gearing up for the 6-year-old tradition in which thousands of eggs stuffed with prizes will be lying in wait for the children in attendance.

“Just a joy to watch all the kids come and be a part of that and they don’t hunt the eggs, they just pick them up becuase you can’t hide 15,000 eggs. We just dump them on the grass and let them go,” said Pastor James Childers “…our Wednesday night crowd has been stuffing candy in eggs so we’ve been doing that every Wednesday night for the last three weeks. ”

The event also includes hot dogs, chips, and a cookie for all those who participate. In the spirit of Easter, the church has a guest reader, Pastor Caleb Stewart, to read the true story of Easter.”

“It’s just great to be able to tell the kids about the true story, you know, true meaning of Easter. That it’s really not about the bunny, you know, it’s about Jesus Christ and what he did for us and just rising again and he’s alive today,” Childers said. “We’re just very thankful that we could do this and so many of the kids can be a part and it’s open to the community.”

In-person registration runs from 10:30-11:30 a.m., and you can pre-register by clicking this link.
