The Muskingum Recreation Center will soon be looking for a new executive director.   WHIZ News has learned that Beth Chapman is no longer with the organization. Chapman says she was terminated by the Board of Directors on Wednesday. She says in a letter she received from the board it stated that a decision was made to terminate her employment with the MRC effective immediately. The letter went on to state “this decision was made following a review of the current state of the MRC and in consideration of the specific skills and experience the Board feels will be needed to move the MRC into the future. Chapman says “from May of last year to the beginning of this year they lost 500 memberships.” She says a lot of their former members went to Planet Fitness and Nautilus. The letter states “the Board of Trustees would like to express their sincere appreciation of the efforts you have made to bring the center to this point in its development. The MRC staff and patrons have benefited from your programming experience.” Chapman says she only wants the best for the MRC and it has many compassionate staff members many she’s worked with for over 15 years.WHIZ News has called MRC Board of Trustees President Michael Steen and is seeking a comment and have not yet made contact.
