Melissa Maxwell named ZAAP Artist of Month

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- This months ZAAP artist of the month is Melissa Maxwell.

Maxwell specializes in floral paintings and enjoys growing her own dahlias and irises to paint. ZAAP Member, Erin France, explains Maxwell’s process is quite beautiful.

“She really likes to focus on how the light optimizes those flowers and so she grows her own flowers and then she starts to paint it and then she starts layering in the light.”

France encourages everyone to come down to the ZAAP Art Studio tomorrow as part of the Art Walk to view Maxwell’s pieces as well as preview this years art auction.

“It’s a very important auction for our community gallery because it provides funds that we use to keep our gallery open all year round and so all the items that are in the gallery right now will be auctioned off beginning at 8pm on May 5th. So we hope you can come down and place some pre bids and also mark your calendars for that event.”

The ZAAP Art Studio is located at 625 Main Street in Zanesville.
