Coshocton County Airport Expansion

By summer corporate jets will be able to land on the airport runway in Coshocton County.

It’s thanks to $450,000 in federal funds Congressman Zack Space was able to secure for the Richard Downing Airport.

"This runway extention is going to do a number of things. It’s going to first of all put people to work in creating the extention but more importantly it’s going to create a better economic environment," Congressman Zack Space said.

Spaces says the runway will be expanded so larger corporate planes and jets will be able to land and that is what compaines look at when locating a business or factory. So it’ll make the area more attractive for business growth and that’ll bring more jobs to the area. He says it’s an investment that the government is making at a local level to bring tax payers dollars back home.
Not only is Coshotcon County thrilled about the project but so is the airport staff.

"The 5,000 feet will help us go out and market our airport for businesses and charter services and maybe manufacturing or something like that so we’re really excited about it this is the magic number that it takes 5,000 feet to get economic growth to the community," Airport Administrator Bethel Toler said.

Toler says they expect the airport runway to be finished by the middle of July.
