MCCF to award Traci Lynne Reed Memorial Scholarship
ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The Muskingum County Community Foundation is seeking scholarship applications from John Glenn seniors.
For the third consecutive year, MCCF will award the Traci Lynne Reed Memorial Scholarship to a John Glenn High School senior pursuing higher education in the 2017-2018 school year. The recipient should display involvement in both school and community activities.
“Any senior from John Glenn High School can apply, who has been in volunteering, community involvement, band, choir, school, community activities– anything that way. That’s who we’re looking for. It’s a $500 scholarship and it can go towards any college or any major that the student is interested in going into,” said Katie McCarty, the Educational Assistant for the MCCF.
The scholarship is awarded in the name of Traci Lynne Reed, a former staff sergeant in the U.S. Air National Guard 178th Tactical Fighter Group, who passed away in 2008. She and her husband have two children that attend John Glenn High School.
The scholarship, which can be filled out online, does require a short essay, along with some demographic information and a personal recommendation.
All scholarships awarded by MCCF are open to donations for those who wish to make contributions. Donations can be made to a specific scholarship or to the foundation in general.
“All of our scholarships are open to the community to donate to, if they’d like to. All they have to do is go on our website. They can specify which scholarship they want to put money into, or they can make a general donation to the foundation that we can put towards whatever we need help with,” added McCarty.
The deadline for scholarship applications is Friday, May 12th, and applications can be found on the MCCF website at www.mccf.org.
