The Community Bank Hosts Shred Day

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Community Bank hosted its annual Shred Day event, giving community members a secure way to dispose of sensitive documents and unwanted electronics.
The event drew a strong turnout, with 406 vehicles passing through the bank’s parking lot throughout the day. Participants were able to bring any amount of paper for on-site shredding, handled by Black Ops Destruction. In addition to paper disposal, Muskingum Iron and Metal was present to collect electronic items for recycling.
Derrick Gingerich, Vice President of Business Development at The Community Bank, emphasized the importance of protecting personal information.
“I think it’s good for the community to be able to bring their personal items they don’t want out there, their names and their personal information and have it shredded,” Gingerich said. “So, we have shredders on site here in our parking lot.”
Beyond document destruction, the event also offered snacks and water for attendees, reinforcing its community-focused atmosphere. Organizers described it as a convenient, one-stop opportunity for residents to safely dispose of materials while connecting with others. Gingerich noted that many attendees plan ahead for the event each year.
“I think, in our industry, it’s important to keep things private and confidential,” he said. “People do save their documents for this event every year. They’ll start saving tomorrow and bring it back next year. Everybody that comes out appreciates it and even though we advertise it’s free, some people still ask how much they can pay.”
