Ohio University Zanesville hires new dean

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – After a long search, Ohio University Zanesville has announced their new dean.
Dr. Jeremy Webster, a former Dean of the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University in Athens, is excited to transition to the Zanesville campus.
In his new position, he will oversee the faculty, but Webster wants to make sure he finds ways to interact with the students.
“It’s important for the dean to be visible to the students, and that they know who you are, said Webster. I remember vaguely as an undergrad having to get a form signed by whoever the dean was. I remember going to the office, but I had never met the person before or knew his name.”
Dean Webster not only hopes to make an impact on the students and faculty, but to the community as well. He said one priority is making sure the college is a resource for the area.
“I want to provide the support that I can, said Webster. Also, the leadership to make sure we are responding to our local communities needs like workforce development, general economic development, and innovation.”
Webster earned his master’s degree in English from Texas A&M University and his doctorate from the University of Tennessee.
Webster’s official start date is Monday, June 5th.
