City of Zanesville announces 2016/2017 Paving Program

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A heavily travelled road in Zanesville will soon receive much needed repairs.

Mayor Jeff Tilton announced the city plans to pave over 13 miles of roadways this year and one of those streets is the dreaded Linden Avenue. The Mayor explains the city hopes to start milling and paving Linden next week but also notes several paving projects are already underway.

“We’ve started here in the last week milling and paving. Right now there up on Wheeling Avenue paving they have already milled. Plus ODOT is doing a large project within the city limits which as you can see on Main Street today they are putting in new handicap ramps so they will be milling and paving Main Street up to 7th Street over West Main and to the city limits. There’s just a lot of paving throughout the city.”

The Mayor also addressed the current situation of the Muskingum Avenue closure.

“We just got another quote back about how we can repair the spillage on the hill. It’s about 1.7 million dollars, looking at how we fund that. So for right now it will be closed. Having some legal talk with our law director to see if there is a possibility of maybe reopening it but right now it will be closed until we get that decision.”
