ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Local Students were honored for years of hard work yesterday.

Zane State College hosted their 47th annual commencement for the class of 2017 at the Secrest Auditorium last evening. The key-note speaker for the event was J.D. Vance. Vance hopes the students will celebrate the moment with their family and be proud of their accomplishments.

“The most important thing is this is just an exciting day for the students but also for the families who supported them and made this accomplishment possible. So the message that I’m going to give the students is one be proud of yourself two honor the commitment your family that allowed you to get here and three try to have a good time because this is a time to remember and to celebrate your accomplishments and then back to work the next day.”

Vance also gave advice for the new graduates when pursuing their careers.

“Find something that you can do and do well, so find a vocation, because at the end of the day not everybody works in the job that they love the most but the people who are really happy and who are really successful find a vocation that they care about that they like doing and ultimately they are good doing. I think that is an important part.”

Vance’s final words of wisdom was to not just focus on the work side of the life because ultimately the thing that makes life most meaningful is family, falling in love and raising a family.
