Rain doesn’t damper Zemba Bros. Annual Family Field Day

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Zemba Bros. held their 17th Annual Family Field Day Sunday afternoon.
While the weather conditions may not have been ideal for the parents, it didn’t damper the spirits of many children who took advantage of the opportunity to go out and have some fun playing in the rain and mud.
“The brothers of this company came up with this crazy idea 17 years ago and every year it gets bigger and better. It’s just a great thing for the community to come out, spend the day. It’s a big picture on why we do this. It’s for the community, it’s for the kids. And you know, the weather didn’t cooperate very well for us today but the crowd is still here and the kids are still loving it,” said Troy Hindel, the Administrative and Safety Manager for Zemba Bros.
The idea for the event initially started because the company wanted to provide kids of all ages with an opportunity to get outside, play in the dirt, and participate in activities they normally wouldn’t get the chance to.
“It’s near and dear to all of our hearts. It’s something that we want to do for the community, we want to give them something, the children something, an opportunity to come out and do something that they might not ever be able to get to do like operate a giant piece of equipment, or chase a pig, or do the pedal pull or anything. It’s great for families to come out, and it’s very inexpensive, and everyone has a great time,” added Hindel.
Activities at the event include 15 pieces of excavation equipment, a petting zoo, straw maze, pony rides, archery demonstrations, tractors pulls, and more. Lunch is also provided which can cost as little as $1.00, while admission and parking is covered with a canned food or monetary donation. All proceeds benefit local charities.
Hindel was thankful of all the support they received saying that without the help of their corporate sponsors and employees who volunteer their time, the event would not be possible.
