Honor Flight 2026

Honor Flight

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Veterans, over time, often downplay their time of service as they continue living their civilian lives.

Veterans Appreciation Foundation President Wayne Clark explained how Honor Flight Columbus is an organization that provides elderly veterans a trip to the nation’s capitol to experience the military memorials that have been dedicated to their service.

“We’ve fundraised over 300 Muskingum County veterans on the Honor Flight,” Clark said. “So this next Honor Flight is May the 6th, which is a Wednesday and it goes out of Columbus, Columbus airport. And we have 6 veterans from Muskingum County going on that flight.”

The flight will return around 9 p.m. and the Veterans Appreciation Foundation encourages the public to attend the return ceremony which will be held inside the airport.

“They bring them through one at a time and announce their name and those guys… you know there’s fifteen hundred people there,” Clark said. “There’s the Ohio State Cheerleaders a lot of times, there’s a fife and drum musical group, playing music for them there on the P.A. system, girl scouts, whatever. People shaking their hand, people carrying signs. It will fill up the whole lobby at the Columbus airport.”

Clark advises attendees to arrive about a half hour early and use the airport’s short term parking. For more information, you can contact the Veterans Appreciation Foundation.
