ZANESVILLE, Ohio- It may not be time for Santa quite yet, but the kids at one pre-school had a little taste of Christmas in May.

The Ohio Stave Company donated over $1,000 worth of playground toys to the Zanesville Day Nursery Wednesday morning.

Holly Hendershot, director at the Zanesville Day Nursery, said that the charitable donation will go a long way for their day care.

“We’re a non-profit organization, so $1,000 out of our budget is a strain, so when any company would be so generous to do this, it helps us out immensely,” said Hendershot.

The playground is a learning area that teaches children socialization skills, problem solving and patience, according to Hendershot. When children have a small amount of toys to share it creates conflict, and this donation will alleviate that problem she said.

This donation was a part of a yearly initiative for the company according to Kelly Price, Ohio Stave Company office manager.

“We like to stay active in our community either by charitable donations or being active in community projects,” said Price. “It takes everybody putting forth effort to make a good community, and we all care about where we live,” said Price.

The Zanesville Day Nursery hosts around 70 children daily throughout the week. To show their gratitude, the children crafted thank-you cards
