ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Operation Feed Campaign for 2017 officially came to a close with smashing success.

Many gathered at the Muskingum County Courthouse Square to watch family members and friends get pied in the face. According to Operation Feed’s Steering Committee Member June Smith 33 people got a pie in their face and Operation feed raised $3,320 this year.

“Well last year we had 26 and I think we only raised $2,500,” Smith said. “So we’re a little bit over. We had several projects going and it’s inspiring to see everybody come together and work on this.”

Smith said they had the most people getting a pie in their face than any previous year. Christ’s Table Executive Director, Keely Warden said the Pie in the Face event is a way to say thank you and celebrate the end of their two month-long campaign.

“We can’t thank our volunteers enough, because 100% of the money that’s raised through operation feed goes directly back in this community to our fifteen food pantries and our four hot meal programs,” Warden said. “So a big thank you out there to everyone out there that donated and a huge thank you to all the volunteers that take their time to do this every year. It’s a wonderful project and we just say a big thank you to everyone.”

Smith said thank you to everyone who came out. Smith and Warden are both looking forward to seeing everyone at next years Pie in the Face event.
