ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Zane State College has announced a major leadership transition in a press release on Tuesday.

Starting July 1, Dr. Chad Brown will transition from his position of president to the role of Director of Major Gifts with the Zane State College Foundation. In the new position, Brown will be responsible for strengthening donor relationships, growing the Foundation’s endowment, and exploring the feasibility of a future capital campaign. Brown has served at the college president for 11 years and says he is proud of the accomplishments during that time, but this new role will better suit his strengths.

“I am proud of all that we accomplished during my tenure as President, but I truly believe my strengths are better suited for this new role,” said Brown in the press release. “Also, I am very cognizant of the impact that the stress, schedule, and travel associated with the presidency has had on my health, and it’s time that I make my health a priority.” Diagnosed with dystonia in 2017, which made walking difficult, Brown had been steadily improving, but suffered a significant setback this fall that resulted in him taking leave starting in February.

Brown had been diagnosed with dystonia in 2017, which made walking difficult. Starting in February, he had to take leave due to a setback related to the condition.

Joseph Keating will continue serving as Interim President of Zane State College, a role he assumed in February.

“Chad has the experience and the relationships in the community to help the Foundation grow in meaningful ways,” Board of Trustees Chair Susan Straker Holdren said in the press release. “Joe Keating, the leadership team, the faculty and staff have done a great job the past few months serving our students and building real momentum during very challenging times. We appreciate their dedication and look forward to continued progress meeting the needs of our students, their families, and our community.”
