Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Dog of the Week; Meet Lu!

ZANESVILLE, OH – This Week’s Dog of the Week is a small pup that’s full of love.
Meet Lu! He’s a seven-year-old terrier mix who’s neutered, loves affection, and is eagerly sniffing out his forever home.
Doug McQuaid, a volunteer at the Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center, says Lu came to them as a stray after he was found running around the junk yard on route 40.
“He was thought to be, you know, very scared and needed some assistance.” McQuaid said. “So, a good citizen actually set a trap and was able to watch until he got [Lu] trapped in that and was brought to us. Found out after a little while, naturally he was afraid, but after a little while he seemed to warm up and as you can see can be very affectionate, loves attention, just needs to be loved on, we found out he also walks well on a leash.”
McQuaid also wanted pet owners to keep a few things in mind as we start to see hotter days.
He says if you plan to walk your dog, to walk them in the early morning or later evening when the ground is cooler along with a few other important tips.
“Make sure you’re changing their water often, make sure they have cool water.” McQuaid said. “Shade is very important, one of the things I like to highlight also too, is one of the things that seems to be the favorite of all pets. If you could place an area in your house, basement, or garage, that you’d be surprised, a lot of times when they become very hot they settle down. As long as you have a place for them, spend a little time with them, and they become very comfortable.”
