Students drive their tractors to Philo High School

ZANESVILLE, OH- It was a foggy start to the morning at Philo High School, but that didn’t stop students from rolling into class a little differently.
As part of FFA Week celebrations, students fired up their tractors and took part in the school’s annual Drive Your Tractor to School Day.
The event is one of several activities held throughout the week to celebrate agricultural education and the organization that helps students prepare for careers in agriculture, leadership, and service.
This year marked the fifth time Philo has hosted the event, and participation continues to grow each year as more students join in.
“It’s an awesome thing for the kids, the kids get excited about it, and if you see tractors out there on the road, be safe, because we are in an agricultural area and there’s a lot of farming going on this time of year,” said Agriculture Education Teacher and FFA Advisor, Josh Harris.
Students say the event is about more than just bringing tractors to school.
Junior Cooper Krause said it’s a way to support the FFA program while showing unity among members.
Sophomore David Klies added that it gives students a chance to have fun and spend time with friends while celebrating something they all enjoy.
“I feel like it brings all of us closer as a team and part of the FFA, I feel like it’s a good thing for all the kids to do, I’ve enjoyed it, so I know everybody else has probably enjoyed it,” said Philo High School Senior, Trentin Kelly.
With another successful year in the books Drive Your Tractor to School Day has become a favorite FFA Week tradition at Philo High School. They plan to continue the event next year.
