ZANESVILLE, Ohio – With yard sale season in full swing, one local senior center is looking to get in on all the excitement.

Abbot Senior Living center is having their sixth annual yard sale in which all proceeds will go toward funding their activity budget. The yard sale, which is taking place this Thursday and Friday, is comprised of community donated items which the living center is very fortunate for.

“This yard sale really means a lot to us because we’ve been able to buy things such as computers, benches, and even entertainment for our residents,” said Janelee Thompson, Executive Director of Abbot Senior Living. “The fact that the community donated all these items is really a big help to us and we truly appreciate them because they support us 100%.”

The senior center anticipates a strong showing for this year’s yard sale and it just so happens that a significant portion are the residents themselves.

“My residents truly love and look forward to this day because they can come out and browse our items which many wouldn’t normally be able to do,” said Thompson. “They all have a ball out here, plus they get to see neighbors and people that they’ve known forever so it really is a great time for them.”

While the main attraction may be the yard sale, visitors are also welcome to tour the senior center as well.

“Not many people realize what’s behind our walls and are aware of how nice of a facility we have here,” said Thompson. “I would encourage everyone to stop by and this is really a perfect opportunity to do so.”
