Newark Police Officer terminated

NEWARK, Ohio – Newark Police concluded a lengthy internal investigation into the arrest of an off-duty Newark Police Officer.

Timothy Hansel, an eight year veteran of the division, was arrested on October 29th, 2016, on a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence.

The investigation lasted until he entered a plea of guilty to a lesser included offense of disorderly conduct in January of 2017.

Hansel was found guilty and granted diversion. After the criminal process, Newark police began an internal investigation into Hansel’s conduct.

The investigation sustained four of the eight allegations against him, and it was determined that the Newark Division of Police would terminate Hansel’s employment.
