Local Business celebrates 87 years

SOUTH ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local business is celebrating a long history of providing groceries for South Zanesville.
Campbell’s Foodland marked their 87th anniversary in 2017 after opening in 1930. Since then, the business has been passed down form generation to generation and now Courtney Burns is a fourth generational Co-Owner with her father. Burns says Campbell’s itself was started close to home.
“The story goes that my great grandma started it by selling apples off of her front porch and then they actually went somewhere and bought enough groceries to get started on selling and the original store I think was an old house or something up on the corner here and in the 60s they built this store on the location it is now.”
Burns explained with stiff competition, she is proud that Campbell’s has remained open through the years.
“It’s very rare to have a business that’s been around as long as we have so its really neat to have a lot of people come in and say well is used to work there or I used to come in with my grandma. It makes you proud that you have been able to hang in this long with the big competitors, its really hard but we’ve managed and hope to keep going.”
Burns wanted to thank everyone who has supported Campbell’s in reaching this milestone.
