Zanesville Farmers Market expanding to Downtown

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Zanesville Farmers Market will soon be adding a new day and location.
The Farmers Market will be open on Wednesday in downtown Zanesville from 3 to 6 pm on 3rd street by the Freight Shops. President of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce, Dana Matz, explains the new day will benefit farmers as well as local businesses downtown.
“So the nice thing about a mid-week Farmers Market is it gives the farmers a chance to sell more of their produce. Produce, once it’s picked has a shelf life so this gives them a chance to sell it. The thing that’s exciting for us in the downtown area is it brings more people into our downtown so they have a chance to go to the other businesses in our downtown area.”
Matz hopes the interest in local produce will foster more opportunities downtown.
“There is a local food movement going on so there is conversations between United Way, City of Zanesville and different folks really trying to emphasize local foods. Of course we have the Food Works Alliance down at the former incubator that they are doing local products. So long-term goal for this is we bring all these people together and they are housed in downtown Zanesville.”
Starting June 14th the Farmers Market will run every Wednesday through September.
