ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Starting June 17, 2017 local students with an interest in music and art will start their first day of Camp.

The Fifteenth Annual C.A.S.S. Camp will take place from June 17, 2017 through June 21, 2017. The camp will focus on Creative Artists, Stimulating Success, which according to C.E.O. Dr. Cassandra McDonald means students will not just learn about music, art, and speech. They’ll also learn business and professional skills to help them advance in their talents.

“Even for college you have to have an interview and what you look like off paper,” Dr. McDonald said. “So this gives them that opportunity and just interacting with a diverse culture of different people and learning about different people from different areas. That’s what education is all about.”

The Camp is offered to children in grades Kindergarten through 12th. According to the C.A.S.S. Camp website the Pipsqueak group will learn about music and art with crafts, fun, and games. The Morning Campers will study dance music, and how to be self-confident. The Overnight Campers will take on a business perspective and how to act professionally. They’ll also learn about self value in music and communication.

“Even though we’re formulated and we know exactly what we have planned, we still leave area for creativity,” Dr. McDonald said. “So if someone comes in they have an input in the schedule and what we’re going to do. Everything we do is composed on the spot.”

Co-Director Chelsey Luallen said she’s been involved with C.A.S.S. Camp since she was a camper in middle school and has grown through the ranks, because she loved her experience in the program.

“We have a great time, we learn a lot, and we have a good curriculum set up,” Luallen said. “It’s such a great experience, we have a great location here in town. I can’t talk more about it, like I can’t talk more about how much I love it.”

C.A.S.S. Camp is held at the Zanesville Girls Scout Service Center located on Bowers Lane. On sight registration and drop off is June 17, 2017 at 8:00 A.M. C.A.S.S. Camp will finish with a final concert on June 21, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. For more information go to the Camp’s website, casscamprocks.com
