Authorities respond to House Fire in South Zanesville

SOUTH ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Multiple crews responded to a house fire in South Zanesville June 16th.
Zanesville, South Zanesville, Harrison Township and Newton Township Fire Department along with Community Ambulance responded around noon to a structure fire at 191 Juanita Drive. South Zanesville Fire Chief, Russell Taylor, explains upon arrival the house was found fully engulfed in flames.
“Upon arrival you could see heavy black smoke from miles away. When we arrived on the scene we found a one story structure fully involved with a heavy fire load. At this time we are waiting on the Fire Marshalls Office to bring an investigator in to try to figure out the cause of the fire.”
Taylor reports that while no family members were in the house at the time of the fire and pets were safely outside, it is considered a total loss.
“Right now it is considered a total loss. We are going to set up a ladder truck and drown it from the top because its unsafe to enter the structure at this time and it’s not worth risking a firefighters life for.”
Taylor says pending the investigation, it appeared the fire started in the garage.
