Cedarhurst Fire

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Multiple crews responded to a house fire in West Zanesville on June 16th.

National Trails, Falls Township and South Zanesville Fire Department as well as the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office responded top a garage fire on 375 Cedarhurst Drive shortly after 5. National Trails Assistant Fire Chief, Tom Roberts, explains a few minutes upon arrival the fire had spread to the house.

“Our Lieutenant was first on the scene, on his arrival we had smoke in the garage showing at that time. In a matter if a few minutes it was fully involved and worked over into the house.”

No one was in the house at the time of the fire and Roberts believes all pets where out of the house. Roberts notes they were able to suppress the fire within a half hour to save the house from a total loss.

“We had some pretty heavy fire and smoke damage in the roof attic and probably a quarter of the house had some pretty good fire damage and the garage is a total loss.”

Robert says the cause of the fire is not known at this time.
