Amber Alert canceled for 1-year-old Licking Co. girl

LICKING CO., Ohio- An Amber Alert has been canceled by the Newark Police Department on Sunday after a 1-year-old girl was reportedly taken by her father.

Newark police confirmed that the father, Matthew Trent, was located in eastern Licking County off of Briarcliff Road and is in custody. The child was found and safely returned home.  Officials said charges against Trent won’t be determined until Monday morning by the Licking County Prosecutor’s Office.

The initial report said 1-year-old Keira Marie Trent was reportedly taken by her father, Matthew R. Trent, 27-years-old.

Police said she was being watched by her sister, when her father came to the residence on the 100 block of North 11th Street in Newark.
