Longtime Education Advocate Passes

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A longtime community advocate passed away Friday at the Morrison House.

Caribeth Legats was an educator who moved to Zanesville in 1969. She was instrumental in developing programs aimed toward children with learning and behavioral disabilities.

Her passion revolved around community service through leadership roles with the Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma Women Teachers Society, Foxfire Alternative School, the Starlight Programs,  as well as Christ’s Table and The First Christian Church.   

Her proudest accomplishment was creating the Muskingum Valley Miracle League through her involvement in the Daybreak Rotary Club, The Muskingum Valley Miracle League constructed a specialized baseball facility and organization, which allowed disabled children and adults to participate.

Calling hours will take place at the Hillis Combs Funeral Home on Thursday with Funeral Services taking place Saturday at the First Christian Church. Further Details can be found by visiting WHIZNews.com.
