ZANESVILLE, OH – Day 2 of the 2026 Rambo Memorial Health “Camp Wheeze-Away” is in the books!

Campers started the day down at Rambo and Shannon Bell, the Executive Director says the campers were a bit tired to start the morning after yesterday’s activities but once they saw the firetruck, the fatigue quickly faded.

She says they got to spray the hoses, check out the truck, and see all the equipment that’s required to keep a fire fighter safe in the line of duty.

“The Coca-Cola semi is here, which Joe from Coca-Cola talks to them about what it takes to be a driver, all of the things that they do, and what it takes to drive a semi.” Bell said. “Then of course they get to get up in the semi and honk the horn which is their favorite part.”

Around 20 campers signed up for this year’s Camp Wheeze-Away and Bell says they walked away with more than just memories.

Throughout the 2 days campers learned about nutrition, how to properly use an inhaler, and how to help a friend who might have asthma.

“I think the kids do learn stuff while they’re here, we played a game yesterday where you shove cotton candy into a toilet paper roll and the cotton candy represents mucus, then you take a squirt bottle and that represents your inhaler.” Bell said. “As you spray, then the cotton candy goes away, and that’s how your mucus goes away, so it was a fun game but they learned something at the same time.”

The rest of Day 2’s activities included a nutrition game, a game of toss with some members of the Zanesville High School Football team, and bowling at Sunrise Bowling Center.
